ASHBA Annual Meeting Highlights
Friday, February 14, 2025
The annual meeting of the American Saddlebred Horse and Breeders Association saw a substantial turnout of membership. More than half of the active, eligible members at the time of the vote let their voices be heard either in person or by proxy on two topics: a bylaw amendment proposal and the vote to elect two people to represent the membership on the nominating committee for the board of directors. All votes were counted on-site by a third party, a process that took more than four hours to ensure accuracy.
After several speakers and discussion, the proposed bylaw changes were defeated by a vote of 858 to 534. The meeting was recessed until February 24 when it will reconvene at 5 pm EST by Zoom to learn the names of the two members voted in by the members to be on the nominating committee.
ASHBA Board President Allen Bosworth also introduced ASHBA’s new executive director, Sara Mayer. Sara has a long history in the Saddlebred world, including winning a WC in the roadster division, and working for Fran and Kim Crumpler shortly after her graduation from William Woods. She has extensive leadership experience in the non-profit world, and brings a wealth of industry knowledge to the association.
